Greek War Service Medal

Full size medal - Unmounted with 15cm ribbon as required for swing mounting.

Miniature  size medal - Unmounted with 10cm ribbon as required for swing mounting.

The Greek Commemorative War Medal was instituted by Royal Decree on 19 August  1947 for service from the outbreak of war in Greece 1940 to the fall of Crete in 1941. It was also awarded to allied foreign troops who saw service as per the areas covered on the reverse of the medal.

The medal is bronze with the obverse profile portrait of King George of Greece surrounded by wreath, crown above his head. Reverse dates 1940-41 and list of campaigns: Epirus, Albania, Macedonia, Thrace and Crete. Ribbon dark blue with pale blue broad central stripe and narrow pale blue stripes at each edge.
