World War II Medals

For service during World War II Australian personnel were awarded Imperial campaign medals. The same medals were issued to all Commonwealth personnel, and in addition Commonwealth countries generally issued a unique medal to recognise the service of their own people. In Australia the Australia Service Medal 1939-45 was issued.

The qualifying criteria for the medals are contained in comprehensive policy publications issued by the United Kingdom and in separate Australian publications
