A.C.T. Emergency Medal
Full size medal - Unmounted with 15cm ribbon as required for swing mounting.
Miniature size medal - Unmounted with 10cm ribbon as required for swing mounting.
Instituted in 2004 by the government of the ACT and awarded to uniformed members of the Australian Federal Police, ACT Fire Brigade, ACT Ambulance Service, ACT State Emergency Service and members of the New South Wales Police Force, largely from the Monaro Local Area Command, for their acts of courage and dedication to the Canberra community during the January 2003 bushfires.
To qualify for this award members are required to have undertaken at least 8 hours duty, primarily involved in the suppression of the bushfires or evacuation and protection of the community and, displayed professionalism and dedication to duty, during the period 8 January to 19 January 2003.
